Before approaching her, return back up the path to the very top of the hill, look below and to the left to spot a platform below. Head left and follow the path to two wooden doors. If you are Embered, you will be able to summon Anri of Astora and Horace the Hushed for the next boss. This leads to a shortcut, but also the region’s Rosaria’s Fingers Covenant. As you reach the top, kill the Crossbowman. Following their melee attacks, they will be stationary for a brief moment and have their shield down making this the perfect time to mount a counter attack. This second body can use its arms to perform a lunging grab attack that will cause a great deal of damage. You’ll find a corpse holding a Saint-tree Bellvine (Sacred Chime) at the base of the wall on the right as you go. ? If you get around behind the Cathedral Knight and you stay there long enough, they will perform a quick, backwards swipe with their mace. This will initially be guarded by the remaining two Cathedral Knights. The quickest way back to the cathedral is to exit the chapel through the front door, drop into the riverbed, and climb the ladder to reach the main doors. Approach this cautiously as the statue above it will drop a poison cloud on you if you get too close. Take the left-most path leading you to two Butchers and the evangelist at the end of the fire. Try to kill them without moving too far across the rooftop to the right as there are multiple Crossbowmen on a platform below. Down some stairs to your right will be a white tree. Move out into the thick watery area and on the far right of the room you’ll see the Giant who we had to avoid whilst running along the balcony area earlier. If you get too close, another Bomber will climb up on your left to ambush you. Ultra greatsword wielded by the knights of the Cathedral of the Deep. Move down the first set of stairs and you’ll have a pair of options – explore a room to the left or continue down another set of stairs. When you reach the end of the watery passage, take the stars on the right. Kill all three, and at the top of the steps, you will see a Cathedral Grave Warden ahead of you. Follow this path to a bridge with another Infested Corpse and head over to it. If they land on your character’s head, they will perform a lengthy unblockable attack that will strip away most of your health bar. Use your bow to bait each hound out first, and then head in and kill the Soliders. Additionally, the Cathedral Knights will be able to heal themselves and apply additional explosive damage to their weapons. Patrolling this area are a bunch of Hollow Slaves as well as three Knights of the Deep. Follow the wall around to find a place you can drop down. Teleport out and back into Firelink. Doing so, he will admit to his wrongdoings and give you the Prostration Gesture (Checklist Gesture 12/26). With a 100% Physical Absorption shield, you will be able to just defend the sweep. The occasional Zombies with the chest extensions however are a much trickier foe. When the Giant Slave lifts a foot to stomp, just back out and roll away. Head inside to find and elevator and take it up. Fortunately, it is possible to side step and roll away from most of their attacks. It is also possible, depending on your speed, to get around behind a Cathedral Knight and perform a highly damaging backstab. Ignore the Swordsmen and Crossbowmen that will try to attack you as you go and go for the exit door ASAP to avoid the Giant’s attacks. Deacons will attempt to slap you with the candlestick they hold in their hands if you get too close to them and stay there for too long. For the most part, you can simply run over to them and attack them before they have a chance to attack you back. We can also open the large blue door that the Giant was blocking. Inside, you will find a bonfire. Try to use attacks that will hit multiple enemies at once and keep an eye on your surroundings to ensure you don’t get surrounded. Work your way around the statue and behind it there is a set of stairs leading downwards to the next boss fight – Deacons of the Deep. A good way to get an easy critical on this guy is to back off a little so he uses throwing knives. To the right of the doors is an inactive lift we’ll be able to turn on a little later. Kill them and then pick up three Red Bug Pellets. It is equipped with a Greatsword which it will 2-hand for the duration of the fight. The easiest way to defeat them is to stay at mid-long range to lure them into performing their overhead slam or spinning combo attacks. Walk up to the Giant Slave, and lock on to one of its feet. When prompted by Patches, select ‘You Know Who I Am’. Climb it and kill the Deacon you find at the top to receive the Deep Ring (Checklist Ring 18/107). The Soldiers leaning on the railing won’t turn hostile unless you attack them. This does however get a little more difficult when there are several of them lurking about as their hardiness will allow them to stay alive long enough to attempt to surround you. They can also knock you off guard with their shield. Head up the stairs where more Reanimated Corpses wait, and another new enemy, Cathedral Grave Warden, will attack. Attack and kill it for the Deep Braille Divine Tome. When the Accursed is dead, it will drop Aldrich’s Sapphire (Checklist Ring 17/107). Rosaria, Mother Of Rebirth. Kill them both before snaffling the item. Once the prayer group is dead, go to the corpse, and to its left behind the wall is a Greataxe Large Devout. Loot the corpse here for a Crest Shield (Shield). If you are a fair distance from the Giant, he’ll perform a sideways sweep with one of his arms that will cause a series of muddy projectiles to be launched at your position. If you drop down here, it will return you to the bonfire. Head upstairs to the outside of Firelink and up to the bell tower where you found the Fire Keeper Soul. We can run and jump down to this platform from the rafters. They can lean back and perform an overhead slam. Enter the doorway to the right of the corpse to continue. As you reach the next doorway on the left, a Thrall will climb up onto the platform. In between the pillars, you will find a lever. This area has a lot of enemies. The Cathedral Knights can imbue their weapon with holy damage that will cause small pockets of holy energy to accumulate on the ground where their melee strikes hit. The Cathedral Knight will lunge at you and perform a follow up swing with his two-handed sword. If you follow the narrow rock passage to the end, you’ll find yourself at a pair of open archways leading to the next area. Head back into the cathedral area with the two Giant Slaves. Immediately turn to the right and follow the passage to the end. Move up far enough so that they light themselves on fire and then run back down to the previous room and around the corner. So keep an eye on the roof! Still at the corpse, face the cathedral, and up on the wall will be another Hollow Slave. On your right is a corpse, and when you reach it, two Hollow Slaves will drop down behind you. As you approach the doorway, watch out for a Thrall that will drop down in front of you kill it before proceeding. Head through the opening into the next area, and ahead of you will be an enemy walking forwards. If the enemy hits you and empties your stamina bar, they will be able to crit you, and Kirk can almost kill you with one attack if given the chance. These two are calm unless provoked. Martyrs are an annoying enemy type as they can dish out a lot of damage and will often attack whilst you are fighting other enemies. If the bar begins to fill, run out of the room and let it deplete as the monster can’t follow you through the door. Still at the entrance, look over to the right, and you should be able to see the legs of a pacing Knight on a landing. These contain a Fading Soul and an Executioner’s Greatsword (Greatsword). If you choose not to forgive him, he will give you a Rusted Gold Coin to show his sincerity. Then return and speak to Patches to get the Patches Sqaut Gesture (Checklist Gesture 14/26). At the top, you can open a large set of doors, creating a shortcut back to the graveyard area from the beginning. Rest if you like, and then head back up the elevator. Take this path all the way around until you reach the end where you should see a pit area with two corpses to loot inside. Head up the stairs as though you were returning to the bell tower, but instead of exiting through the arch to go outside, keep going around inside the shrine to find Patches in a corner. They will slowly crawl at the player soaking up any melee damage you can dish out whilst occasionally attempting to hit you with a spike attack of their own. < > Showing 1-15 of 23 comments . Just to the right at the bottom of the stairs is a sitting fellow who’ll get up and toss Firebombs at you and on the platform above the far end of this area there is a Crossbowman. To begin, take out your bow, and use it to kill the two Deacons walking back and forth, but ignore the Knight of the Deep with the Greatsword. Kill both and pick up the Ember here. The wardens will perform between a 1-3 hit melee attack combo based on your relative proximity to them. Kill it and then head onto the balcony area where another Bomber is seated. If they speed up and move towards you however, their melee attack at the end will be quite quick, so it is best to block or dodge this before following up with a few attacks of your own. Climb to the top of the ladder and on the small platform above, kill the Deacon for a Deep Ring. Path to the Cathedral. From the ‘Cleansing Chapel’ Bonfire exit the building via the newly opened second shortcut door and make your way back up the stairs to reach the ground floor of the cathedral. Before leaving, be sure to use your Undead Bone Shard to upgrade your Estus and warp to Crucifixion Woods. As they do this, they also provide another opportunity to deal some damage to them. Jump over to the roofing section, trying to aim for the giant nail-looking things sticking out to help stop you rolling off. Return to the doors now and open them to enter the cathedral. For the most part, you can simply run over to them and attack them before they have a chance to attack you back. As soon as you pick up the Executioner's Greatsword, a whole bunch of Reanimated Corpses will sprout up, including a new version Infested Corpse. Dark Souls III Cathedral of the Deep Looking at the stairs, go left to a lower path where there will be an Unkindled Fallen Knight. Up the steps, you can get a Homeward Bone on the balcony and then head down the ladder for the next area. Go out the door on the right, and a Giant Slave will stand up. When you reach the platform above, you’ll see a pair of Cathedral Knights (one seated) ahead and three Deacons. This gives quite a large window of opportunity for attack afterwards. At this point, if you progress too far across the rooftop a group of three Thralls will drop down from the stone supports above. At the top of the first short set of steps there is a group of four Martyrs praying to an obelisk-shaped statue. The other best opening is when they kneel down to heal. If you decide to kill the Giant note that there are 7-8 Slimes in the thick ooze surrounding the Chained Giant’s feet that can be difficult to spot. Exit the door and from the Crystal Lizard’s location, look back in the direction we came and at the base of the central structure you should see a set of stairs. Its blade is flattened for use as a strike weapon, but the point at the end allows for thrusting. When alerted, they will engulf themselves in flames, rush towards you, and then leap to the ground and explode. Loot the 1x Titanite Shard from the body here and drop down inside to reach the ‘Cleansing Chapel’ Bonfire. Use your bow to bait out the worshippers, and then kill the Evangelist to collect three Undead Hunter Charms. Head up the second roofing section onto the cathedral roof where another Bomber waits. Take another set of stairs leading down to reach a mausoleum tower. Head back to the bonfire and through the second shortcut door you opened. Trigger him on purpose once the spearman is dead. For killing the Chained Giant you’ll earn 4,000 Souls, 1x Large Titanite Shard and 4x Dung Pie. By the large fire at the bottom of the path there is also an Evangelist. Return to the entrance and proceed inside to find the Curse Ward Greatshield (Greatshield). At the base of the wall on this raised platform is a Large Soul of an Unknown Traveler. Head out of the room and up the path. At the end of the path you can drop down into a large, circular area with a pair of corpses to loot. As you enter the main room, kill the Thrall that drops down in front of you. Before climbing these, look just to the left to find a small path leading down. Lure them back one by one and take them out. The area consists of a huge cathedral as well as a graveyard and the surrounding grounds. Once you return to Firelink Shrine, head up to Ludleth, and on the way, speak to Anri of Astora and Horace the Hushed exhausting their dialogue. At the top, on the left side of the roof there is an alcove with an axe-wielding Undead. They will then bring the swords together in front. Head inside the doors next to you. To make things more approachable, we've divided this section into three parts: The path is right on the left of the bonfire. All of them but one are Bombers. The Maggot Fiends have a pair of strong arms up front and a tail at the back, both of which can be used to inflict damage across a number of attacks. For killing it, you get another piece of Twinkling Titanite. The door on the left will enter the main chamber of the cathedral at ground level so that we can progress onwards and the door at the back of the room leads to a small, square chamber where you can fight a new type of mini-boss enemy – a Cursed Spider. Behind and on the other side are also Bomber enemies. Along this path with be a Large Devout of the Deep (again just stronger Large Hollow Soldiers). Back to Dark Souls 3 Walkthrough. Around halfway up you’ll bump into another powerful hostile human NPC armed with a hand axe and buckler. With an elevator shortcut leading straight back into the cathedral building. Once he dies, you will get the Exile Greatsword. Enter the next doorway. That is everything we can get now. The entire area is a small road turning to the left leading to another gate. We’ll be on a long U-shaped balcony area overlooking a pool below with a Giant resting in it. Still inside the cathedral, go down some steps, and you should see Siegward of Catarina in front of you. Zombie Combat Strategy: This time, take the steps down. It is possible to pull the Cathedral Knight by himself – do so and kill him before moving into the hallway to fight the Thralls. He’s very fast and can perform an animated attack that deals a lot of damage if you allow him to kick you, so get back when you see that coming. At the top, you will see a Crystal Lizard ahead of you. Horace and Anri probably won’t help too much as far as the boss' HP bar goes, but they will do a great job of crowd control. Deacons will often stay at range, hold their candlestick in the air and summon fireballs to launch at you. As thanks, he will give you the Rejoice Gesture (Checklist Gesture 13/26). Move back to where we entered the area and continue past it towards the raised circular platform at the end of the room. They will often perform a vertical slicing overhead slam that will result in their sword hitting the floor. Head into the water to find three Corpse-Grubs. With them in mind, walk up quietly behind the Knight with the Greatsword to get an easy backstab on them. Chained Giant Combat Strategy: You can then either save & exit then reload the game, or warp out and back to this bonfire to find the Archdeacon Set. There are several Thralls patrolling the rafters and three Cathedral Knights – one on a platform on the far, right side of the room wielding a greatsword and two on rafters across from and to the left of the entrances each armed with shields and maces. Return to the door and head through. If they speed up and move towards you however, their melee attack at the end will be quite quick, so it is best to block or dodge this before following up with a few attacks of your own. I like to attack once or twice and then roll away until the bar refills and repeat. As you approach it, two Thralls will hop down. Cathedral Knight Greatsword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3. From this location look across the water. Two of the Deacons will be patrolling back and forth. Before advancing, make sure those Hollow Slaves from before are dead, and then approach the door on the other side where a new enemy will emerge. To your right or just behind you will be some steps leading into a small graveyard. When you have dealt with the Thralls, enter the door that they came from and loot the corpse for a Soul of a Nameless Soldier. Find a gap in the rocks lining the path and drop down here. Slime Combat Strategy: You can level etc. Soon after you exit onto the balcony, the Giant will stand up, notice you and begin to attack. Once you are done, pull the lever to once again raise the gate to create a path. Use your bow to kill this guy while dodging his attacks. When you reach the bottom, unlock the iron gate ahead and the large wooden gate to the right just near the end of the platform. Head up the stairs carefully stopping right at the top. These take a couple more hits to take down and can deal out a bit more damage as well as cause bleed, which can build up long enough to fill two to three bars of bleed. Alle Diskussionen ... These will both knock you down and cause lots of damage. There will be a pair of doors here to check out. Kill all of them and collect the Soul of a Nameless Soldier. At the bottom there is an Evangelist to kill guarding 1x Deep Gem. There will be a Hollow Slave walking back and forth. Simply run over and stand at the base of the opposite foot that remains on the ground to avoid the stomp. Once the Knight is dead, head to the other side. Quickly enter the door and head back down the stairs to continue. Cathedral of the Deep After you kill the Crystal Sage boss, look for a winding path to the left side of the courtyard. Kill this as well (it will likely fall down anyway). Shoot it to speed things up if you like. Exit the room where we fought the first mace-wielding Cathedral Knight through the door on the left to enter a small corridor before a water-filled area. On the far side of the area with the chairs set up you’ll find a small doorway leading to an elevator. The best strategy to deal with a Cursed Spider is to stay at range, far enough away so that it will not use its Curse spit attack. Once the area is clear, look for a wooden ramp onto a section of roofing. Look in one of the corners to find a Notched Whip and then head back outside. Patches won’t try to fight you, so rush the Cleric, kill it, and then speak to Patches. Worm casters on the other hand will remain at range and constantly fire magic spears at you. Keep an eye out for a narrow sloped path on the left. Grave Wardens can be a little difficult to deal with due to their high speed and multiple deadly combination attacks. When you get to Ludleth, trade the Soul of the Deacons of the Deep for the Deep Soul Sorcery (Checklist Sorcery 13/34). Drop down to this and look again over the side to see a wooden platform you can drop to. The enemy is a bit too fast to try getting behind it, but its poise isn’t too high, so attack it aggressively, and it shouldn’t be able to move until the attacks stop. This one is much easier to deal with compared to the club user. This one is actually a bit tough as it can critical you in a couple of ways. This is another Exiled Watchdog, though this one wields a Greatsword. Kill him and then chase down and deal with the Axeman. Speak to Siegward, and he will sound a bit off, suggesting you should walk over the gate you raised earlier to get to some treasure. There will initially be a Worm Caster and two Worms on the platform above, but more will join progressively, leaving you to kill 8-9 Worms in total and two Worm Casters. This will last for a minute or so after the fight, periodically taking chunks of damage out of your health bar as the Bleed bar fills. From the top of the lift there will be a door directly ahead – we’ll need to head through here to continue. This range is usually optimal for it to use its leaping pounce attack. They shouldn’t be an issue, but be sure to avoid their vomit attack. Once it’s dead, you will get 5,500 souls and a Titanite Scale. Continue down the path killing a couple of Slaves that attack you until you see another rooftop lead down to your right. This will create a shortcut for us. At the corpse, a final Slave will attack you as you pick up the Pale Tongue. Beneath the stairs there is another corpse holding a new weapon – Drang Hammers (Paired Hammers). The large blue door here leads to the interior of the cathedral. Then head down the stairs into the fog door. Be careful as a Writhing Flesh will drop down as you reach the top.
